Artist Statement |
Shazia Yusufali is a multicultural animation artist with a BFA in Experimental Animation from the University of Central Florida. Yusufali's influences range from the coastal folklore of East Africa and the Persian Peninsula to the ancient tales of the Ottoman Empire. Shazia's Islamic, Eastern and African experiences, derived from earlier civilizations rich in mythological stories of creation, play an enormous role in driving her need to create something from nothing. She excels in environmental design, architectural rendering, experimental and hybrid 2-D/3-D animation techniques, and the in depth study and application of the twelve principles of animation applied to both human form and inanimate objects. Expressing human characteristics and portraying emotions through the illusion of movement stimulates Yusufali and challenges her to see the world from the outside.
